Micro-credentials are considered a key approach to support workforce requalification and skill updating during the dual transition. By offering targeted learning and flexibility, micro-credentials have the potential to positively influence skill development, improve employee motivation and retention, respond more quickly to skills needs identified by employers, and enable flexible updating and requalification relevant to labor market needs.
Despite the obvious benefits of introducing micro-credentials, there are still many open questions for their implementation in Europe. The MASTERY project, an Innovation Partnership - Cutting-Edge Project, brings together vocational training providers, competence centers, academic partners, industry, and public administration associations from 5 EU countries (Italy, Spain, Bulgaria, Belgium, Finland) to promote collaboration between vocational training and industry for innovation in green skills validation and micro-credential portability.
With the support of the MASTERY project, the aim is to improve the reliability of the vocational training system to create job opportunities in the real economy, promote the competitiveness of SMEs and sectors (Wood, SME Management, Tourism, Agri-food) in the green scenario, stimulate economic growth by creating new jobs and business opportunities, and address a major social challenge.
