The Interassociation Committee as a Development Agent

Investing in the future to be prepared for the new and diverse realities we will face as we emerge from the crisis is a principle that I believe we all agree on. We do it instinctively for our businesses (do I buy a lathe or do I hire a manager?). We must also do it for our associations, under the penalty of finding ourselves with inadequate associative entities when the time comes to face the "new world."

In the course of 2009, in addition to ongoing training for the system (Presidents, Directors, Technical Structure, specialized updates), the Interassociative Committee intends to carry out the following activities:

  1. Meetings among entrepreneurs.
  2. Entrepreneurial class development.
  3. Development of the technical structure.

We will invite the Presidents and their teams to engage in discussions with Confindustria and among ourselves. Imagining the Italian territory ideally divided into 4 "quadrants," we will replicate the meeting to maximize the impact and enhance the level of dissemination and sharing of priorities for the country's competitiveness, with the reference territories and privileged actors and institutional counterparts.

The goal will be to develop initiatives and solutions that are the subject of communication to the public opinion and, where possible, subject to immediate implementability in agreement with local authorities.

This year, we will start with the theme of Infrastructure, in collaboration with Vice President Trevisani, and we will discuss ports, roads, tunnels, intermodal logistics platforms, carriers, and networks.

Development of the Entrepreneurial Class

Investing in a "political" education (identity, values, visions, policies) of the senior and junior entrepreneurial class to "extend the life of associations":

  1. Reawaken the spirit of positive challenge in the face of the serious situation the country is experiencing, beyond the themes of decline and resignation that pervade public debate.
  2. Develop the capacity (and practical exercise) of building relationships at every level, as growth must occur on the team, business, territorial, and associative levels.
  3. Promote innovation in all areas to address new situations with new approaches and tools, whether they involve products, business processes, territorial strategies, or associative strategies.

Development of the Technical Structure

It is important to develop the capacity to make the associative system adaptable to changes, proactive in its relationships with the territory and sectors for the implementation of entrepreneurial policies. The ability to network, exchange best practices, and create value for the associative system by reducing costs and reaction times is a fundamental driver for the organization's development.

Investing in this direction involves nurturing training and organizational behaviors, management of Directors and professionals, investing in the selection of young talents, and, above all, not cutting investments in this direction, making the most of interprofessional funds.
