Beyond traditional learning: SFC's in Didacta Italia bold vision for green skills and workforce development

Among the approximately 20,000 visitors at Didacta Italia 2025, held in Florence at Fortezza da Basso from March 12-14, SFC participated with the goal of sharing European experiences on two central themes for education innovation:
digitalization of learning systems and microcredentials, to transform the Italian and transnational educational system and promote more flexible, recognized training pathways connected to the world of work.
This is precisely the objective of the MASTERY project: developing a replicable methodology and training system that delivers microcredentials for 12 green skills enabling the green transition of production systems in Manufacturing, Wood and Furniture, Agri-food, and Construction sectors. Co-financed by the European Commission through the Erasmus+ program, MASTERY is a "forward-looking project," a forward-thinking pilot action to interpret education development frameworks and implement methodologically sound, transferable solutions coherent with the innovation needs of learning and skills certification systems.
MASTERY's methodological approach is innovative as it combines EU Recommendation guidelines on microcredentials, accreditation needs of training ecosystem partners in participating countries (Italy, Belgium, Bulgaria, Finland, Spain), and credibility of certification tools with national and transnational sectoral VET systems.
SFC's participation at Didacta Italia to disseminate the MASTERY project and deepen the microcredentials debate was fully aligned with the panel "Microcredentials and the Role of the Unified Observatory," led by the Digital Education Hub. The Unified Observatory for Microcredentials aims to monitor and guide microcredentials development in the Italian educational system through three strategic lines: adoption of advanced technological infrastructures, quality assurance and integration into academic and professional pathways, promotion of transparency and international recognition of microcredentials. At the national level, it will represent a privileged interlocutor for MASTERY in recognizing good practices and replicability standards for microcredentials.
The Ministry of University and Research together with the Conference of Italian University Rectors coordinated the Digital Education section, including microcredentials as an integral part of programs promoted by universities and research institutions.
The field of experimentation and inter-institutional dialogue on microcredentials is dynamic and continuously evolving. MASTERY is ready to play its role as an experimenter, addressing the first challenges related to extending microcredentials validity, innovation and constant updating capacity of curricula and related skills, and impact in terms of acceleration and consolidation of emerging skills in the labor market.
MASTERY trials will begin in October, involving VET system actors open to innovation. SFC, project coordinator, invites members and partners interested in experimenting with MASTERY microcredentials within their training ecosystems.
