Excellence in Equal Opportunities from the Experience of SMEs

The BIC project stems from the awareness that the major issue related to good practices in equal opportunities does not concern the absence of gender-positive models, but rather the limited visibility and dissemination of such practices.

For this reason, BIC aimed to enhance and systematize what has been produced through numerous research-action initiatives. These initiatives, starting from the analysis of the socio-economic motivations underlying the gender gap in the Italian labor market, have documented good practices in the field of equal opportunities, contributing to the effective implementation of sustainable and positive models within the Italian entrepreneurial and political fabric.

The project has allowed for:

  1. Identifying, collecting, and systematizing good practices that are already documented and active within small and medium-sized enterprises concerning the reconciliation of women's work and life, potential development and career opportunities, as well as the promotion of different ways of organizing and managing female employment (diversity management).

  2. Raising awareness in the institutional and entrepreneurial system through a seminar event and a well-planned communication strategy that accompanied the investigative activities. This strategy attracted attention to the project's results within the territorial and categorical representation system of industrialists, as well as within various institutional contexts, both at the local and national levels.

The project received funding from the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare – National Equal Opportunities Committee, as part of the program aimed at promoting women's employment, overcoming wage disparities and career paths, consolidating women-owned businesses, and creating integrated network projects.
