INGENIOUS for the Green and Digital skills in VET

The INGENIOUS Meeting held on the 26th of January at the Agricultural Technical Institute Emilio Sereni in Rome focused on Green and Digital skills in Agriculture 4.0.

During the meeting, attended by faculty, students and expert agronomists from the Institute, the results of the project were shared, devoting ample space to the e-learning platform.

The INGENIOUS platform was developed thanks to Erasmus KA2 funding, and through a collaboration of expertise and knowledge from Universities and Training Centers working in close cooperation with the business, in which SFC participated.

Led by the University of Ioannina, the INGENIOUS project enables lecturers and students to develop a wide range of cross-cutting skills, as:

  • digital skills to support online training activities
  • green skills for the implementation of the Circular Economy
  • green and digital skills oriented to specific sectors, including Agriculture.

Supporting the dual revolution, digital and green, will enable companies in the agricultural sector to maintain their own competitive role in the Agriculture 4.0 scenario that is emerging internationally.

This is why it is important to initiate educational innovation projects such as INGENIOUS, to constantly update the knowledge of production systems in educational environments, so that students gain greater awareness when choosing their path of study and work. At the same time, updating teachers' profiles on the use of digital, both in education and in the specific sectors targeted by school curricula, is a priority of the Erasmus + program, and it is from this combination of factors that the INGENIOUS project was born.

We, as SFC Sistemi Formativi Confindustria, have selected the Agriculture sector as the one to focus on for the development and emergence of green and digital skills of teachers in Agricultural Technical Institutes. Among the uses of digital in the agricultural sector, it is above all the use of sensors and data collection and interrogation systems that are of strategic value for agricultural 4.0 companies, including PMi. We have therefore identified the Decision Support System (DSS) as one of the emerging and necessary contents to update the output profile of students in EQF 4 and 5 in agriculture.

Thanks to the collaboration with Giovanni Beltrame, a lecturer in Precision Agriculture and Digital Didactics, we realised the INGENIOUS course aimed at teachers and students of Agricultural Technical Institutes on the use of the DSS system with applications on Olive, Grape and Wheat cultivation systems.

This result marks a further step in grounding the benefits of using the Erasmus + programme for the development of spaces of innovation in Education. In particular, it is Key Action 2, dedicated to strategic partnerships, which stimulates the design of spaces for innovation in Education supported by a constant methodological comparison guaranteed by the universities, and making use of shared experimentation paths with other European training centres and businesses.

In the INGENIOUS project it is the University of Ioannina that has ensured the methodological approach to the definition of the emerging competences for the Digital and Green training of Teachers, and SFC Sistemi Formativi Confindustria has collaborated in the development of training, experimentation and dissemination of activities together with TSI Transport and Telecommunication Institute, Cleantech Bulgaria, Styrian Technology Park, DIAVALKANIKO S.A., Confederation of Employers and Industrialists in Bulgaria (KRIB), committed to enhancing the dialogue between Education and Work.
