Industrial symbiosis represents a resource optimization strategy involving industries, aimed at generating competitive advantages for businesses through the transfer of resources such as materials, energy, water, spaces, skills, etc.
The IN.S.E.T. project – Industrial Symbiosis capacity building for Enterprises and related actors through a disruptive, digital, and pragmatic Training and awareness approach – was born from this awareness. It aligns with the Erasmus+ program's objective of environmental protection and combating climate change. Additionally, it represents a strategy to adapt vocational training to the new needs of the labor market and to enhance the attractiveness of vocational training systems.
The main goal of the project, in which SFC is a partner, is to activate collaborations between companies and local networks aimed at outlining a common methodology for the development of Industrial Symbiosis. It aims to develop a set of tools, including a training course accessible via an app, to increase knowledge and raise awareness among strategic actors for the development of industrial symbiosis. The project will also establish an observatory to collect key information (regulatory framework, available training courses, best practices, etc.) on industrial symbiosis and outline a policy brief to guide decision-makers and interest groups towards implementing local industrial symbiosis projects.
The first INSET newsletter has been published to share the results achieved in the first six months of activities related to:
Study and mapping of emerging skills for Industrial Symbiosis
Design of training for the development of management and design skills for Industrial Symbiosis
Meetings with local sustainability system stakeholders to validate the initial project results
Analysis of Industrial Symbiosis experiences, such as the 3A Park in Umbria and many other cases.
The project will continue in the coming years to consolidate the online training offer and promote local networks for industrial symbiosis.
